Project 2 Blender characters

Babyman is a rare type of baby. They ve been on this earth since the beggining of time- yet they never grew out of their baby figure. Throughout the ages different babymen have been influenced by different time periods, aesthetics, and even extraterestrial creatures. In the row, the left baby man relates back in time, the right relates the the future, and the middle one is still just existing as a baby right now. They hold individuality in their proportions, accessories, and facial features.

I created three characters that have baby figures but older characteristics. I find humor in the juxtappoisiton of chubby baby proportions and then an older looking face or wrinkled skin. For these babies I added aged details such as smoking, top hat, older facial features, and accessories. I individually made all the limbs/ baby body and then distorted each one to give the three different babies different shapes and sizes. Though they all came from the same massing, they each have their owm individual style. I really hope to animate them in the future and put them indifferent poses/ formations to add even more individuality. The most interesting part of this process was creating the folds in the limbs from a side profile. It forced me to visualize what it will look like in 3D as im drawing them in 2D. The most challenging part was sculpting the face. Its an interesting transition from pbhysically moving clay with your hands to trying to move this mesh on the computer with a mouse. Most of all I enjoyed the freedom in blender to really customize the characters and create such visually interesting figures.
